On April 19, Arts Sutton will launch the first of two annual exhibitions of works by its artist members, who will also be attending the opening. The show displays recent work by about 20 artists on the theme Sutton Going Green, providing an opportunity to view many different approaches to contemporary visual art.
Arts Sutton is very pleased to offer this exceptional member showcase. “This exhibition takes up the theme the Town of Sutton chose for the National Home Show held in Montreal this past March,” said Yves L.-Ph. Cousineau, president of the Gallery. In effect, the Town, in cooperation with the Sutton Economic Development Corporation, developers and local real estate agencies joined forces to promote Sutton as a great place to live and provide visitors to the Home Show with information about the possibilities for settling in our area.”
The Gallery thought it would be interesting to suggest to its artist members that they create works based on Sutton Going Green. Through diverse media ranging from photography to sculpture, painting and mixed media, the artists interpret the theme in a multitude of ways. “This exhibition definitely offers a new way of looking at all the attributes that attract people to Sutton,” said Mr. Cousineau.
The exhibition continues until May 18.
The Galley is located at 7 Academy in Sutton. The Gallery and offices are open from Thursday to Sunday, from 11 am to 5 pm.
