October 17 to November 15, 2009 > Eveline Boulva : On the road, between cleared land and woods (Sur la route entre sarts et bois). Located mid-way between drawing, painting and mapmaking, Eveline Boulva’s current works investigate the concept of landscape.
Through this project, Eveline Boulva seeks to enter more deeply into the subject that drives her work –landscape –; to get more specific about the notion of territory by introducing industrial cities like Baie-Comeau and the omnipresent forest typical of the North Shore into her works; and to create a formal relationship between the shaky line of drawing, cartographic recesses and the fragility or remoteness inherent in the places she depicts.

Her personal reappropriation of the territories explored give us both a contemporary and original vision of landscape.
Eveline Boulva has a doctorate in visual arts and geography from Laval University. She has participated in a number of groups shows in Quebec, including a recent exhibition at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec in Quebec City, C’est arrivé près de chez vous. She has completed a number of residencies in printmaking design and production. Her works are included in several public collections, including the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, the Loto-Québec Collection and the Bibliothèque National de Québec. She lives and works in Quebec City where she has taught drawing since 2001.
Welcome to the opening reception, which will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 17.
The artist will briefly present her work at 2:30 p.m.
The Gallery is located at 7 Academy St. in Sutton. It is open from Thursday to Sunday, 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is free.
