OFFICIAL OPENING FOR THE 2010 FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS!!
BROME LAKE (Quebec) – From November 27th 2010 to January 1st 2011, the enchanting Town of Brome Lake is dressing up in its finest in order to get into the Christmas spirit, in large part due to activities of all kinds, and to the magic of it’s Festival of Lights.
To start off this festival, the opening ceremony took place last Saturday evening at Coldbrook Park, in a captivating atmosphere, created with Christmas music, hot chocolate and mulled cider (offered by the Brome Lake Oddfellows club), bonfires and elves offering Christmas hats and candy canes to young and old. Not to be forgotten is the absolutely stunning display of twinkling lights throughout the heart of the Town. When the lights went on for the first time this year, the crowd was stunned by the serenity of the village, and nothing more than a slight murmur could be heard. Don’t forget that the lights will be on for residents and visitors alike for the whole of the festival, until the month of January.
The highlight of the evening was, without a doubt, the sweet, childlike voices of the Knowlton Academy School choir. Directed by Ms. Lynn Hamilton, all the children (with a variety of Christmas hats on) sang with all their hearts.
