Brome–Missisquoi is a fairly large riding southeast of Montreal, in the corner of Quebec's Montérégie region. It borders the Eastern Townships to the east, Iberville and Granby to the west and north, and the United States to the south. Communities include Bedford, Brome, Bromont, Cowansville, Farnham, Lac-Brome, Saint-Armand, Saint-Alphonse-de-Granby, Stanbridge East and Sutton.
The riding was created for the 1973 election and has shuffled a bit since then. In 2011, it lost about a third of its area along its eastern edge, and gained a more or less rectangular chunk to its north.
The riding is one of the last in Quebec to have been won by a candidate from the old Union Nationale party of former premier Maurice Duplessis. The Union Nationale's Armand Russell won it in 1976. Since then, the seat has had one name all over it: Liberal Pierre Paradis, who has been re-elected eight times and was a cabinet minister under premiers Robert Bourassa and Daniel Johnson Jr.
