Theatre Lac-Brome Gets a New Look
The Government of Canada supports upgrades for Theatre Lac-Brome BROME LAKE, QUEBEC–(Marketwired – Feb. 10, 2017) – Department of Canadian Heritage The Honourable Denis Paradis, Member of Parliament (Brome-Missisquoi), today announced that Theatre Lac-Brome will receive $280,000 in funding for building renovations. Mr. Paradis made this announcement on behalf of the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage. This support, provided by the Government of Canada through the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund, will be used by the organization to build a lobby adjacent to the theatre and extend its season to year-round. Last December, the Choir was thrilled to perform to large appreciative audiences. We owe huge thanks to all of you who came. Your generosity allowed us to make substantial donations: $600 to Helping Hands Food Bank in Cowansville, and an amazing $1500 to the Brome Lake Food Bank. This Spring we turn our attention to supporting the needs of young people. In Knowlton, all proceeds will be directed to the “Salamander Summer Camp”. Knowlton Public Market To Be Re-Located
The popular public market in Knowlton, which is on Maple Street and has been for the last several years since opening, will be moved to the site of the old Town of Brome Lake Municipal Garage. The Town has decided not to sell the land where the garage has stood and instead will use for the public market. The site is on Mont Echo Road just over the creek and should make a nice site once the land has been thoroughly decontaminated. Reconstruction of Quilliams Creek bridge on Lakeside Street will force a massive detour
The reconstruction of the bridge over the Quilliams Creek, at Lakeside (route 243) in the path of Brome Lake, will force motorists to take a massive detour this fall. The latest report of the inspection of bridge over the creek Quilliams indicates that at least one beam lost its capacity. The framework also presented significant signs of corrosion.
